2025-26 CATALOG: NEW RELEASES!

With the new school year fast approaching, I’m thrilled to share with you some recently completed projects! As always, I’m eternally grateful to Murphy Music Press and TUX People’s Music for their continued support of my endeavors, as well as to all of you who have purchased, programmed, and performed my compositions & arrangements!

CONCERT BAND/WIND ENSEMBLE

It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve lived in Connecticut for so long now. Much like a triptych I composed inspired by my home state of Michigan, I wanted to take a similar approach inspired by my time in Connecticut. The Connecticut Suite is currently comprised of three pieces that can be performed separately or together:
-Submarine Salute! - an upbeat and more traditional march honoring the workers of General Dynamics Electric Boat
-Air for Avery Point - a lyrical and ambient pastorale inspired by the idyllic scenery of Avery Point and its historical landmarks
-Mystic Summers - a moto perpetuo and celebration of all that the town of Mystic has to offer its tourists during the summer holidays

Flex band versions are also available for all three pieces!

New to this year’s catalog is a brand new holiday piece, as well as my very first Grade 0.5 work!

-Yuletide Sleigh Rides is an upbeat, and MUCH easier, adaptation of my wind ensemble piece A Wild Christmas Nightcap (which I should point out was brilliantly performed by the Baylor Wind Ensemble last year and YOU NEED TO SEE THIS) - this has been in demand for a while now, and I’m grateful to have finally had some time to complete this project!
-A Light Exists in Spring is inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem of the same name. The poem depicts a distinct, yet unique light appearing on the horizon to announce the arrival of the spring season - a light so powerful that it both captivates and inspires all at the same time. Not only is this my very first original Grade 0.5 piece, but it also happens to be a lyrical one! I greatly enjoyed the unique opportunities that writing music for this specific grade level had to offer. Flex band and string orchestra versions of this piece are also available!

A couple of arrangements new to this year’s catalog:

-Neon (Kevin Day) is an exciting concert opener that “depicts the brightness and energy of fluorescent light”
-Chevalier Selections is a medley of several movements of the two symphonies of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Flex band and string orchestra versions are also available!
-The Eternal Present is Isaac Mayhew’s first symphony - originally a chamber work in four movements that was expanded upon by myself for wind ensemble and premiered last spring by Dr. Matthew Arau & the Lawrence University Symphonic Band. More information on the publication of this work is coming soon!

ORCHESTRA

Similar to A Light Exists in Spring, my two newest string orchestra pieces are also inspired by poetry:

-From the autumn tree is inspired by Emily Brontë’s “Fall, leaves, fall”. In this piece, the players (especially cellos) are introduced to more expansive and independent passages within their section. In addition, the entire piece may be performed with or without mutes - its character is therefore entirely different depending on which option you choose.
-The frolic architecture of the snow is a musical depiction of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “The Snow-Storm”, driving forward with relentless energy and ominous textures before revealing the beautiful winter landscapes that the titular storm ultimately leaves behind.

JAZZ

A new chart, and a wider re-release!

-Lobster Roll Funk is more so inspired by the funk genre, but it’s nevertheless an ode to one of New England’s most celebrated foods.
-The Dance That Never Was, my first jazz ballad, is now available as a lead sheet, suitable for any combo! This chart was recorded a while back by Kevin Day, Robert Boone, and Brandon Boone, gaining popularity on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

SOLO & ENSEMBLE

This past year, I was encouraged to develop a series of methods book for TUX People’s Music. As a former percussionist, I immediately knew exactly which instrument I wanted to focus on for my very first series of methods books.

This series for solo timpani is intended to be an addition to one’s library for learning, or teaching, the complexities, skills, and techniques of playing this instrument. These three books thus focus on this pedagogical development through an overarching progression of difficulty:
-The first book, divided into 4 chapters, includes 12 etudes & 4 capstone solos, beginning with one timpano drum and gradually adding further drums over time.
-The second book is geared towards more advanced technical & lyrical performance. All of the solos in this book are inspired by some of the more popular orchestral timpani excerpts, reimagined and even expanded upon in various ways.
-The third book is the most advanced in the series - partially inspired by Elliott Carter’s Eight Pieces for Four Timpani, these solos feature a few extended techniques and are suitable for contest/festival performances & recitals.

In addition, the flexible quartets series continues! Jazz Up! explores the joy, cheerfulness, and exhilaration of going on vacation, whether alone or with friends and/or family. Two volumes for this edition exist - the first one is less difficult and the second is more advanced. In addition, every single part book in Volume 2 is fully cross-compatible with each other.

MARCHING BAND

Two marching band shows - my first for the genre - debuted last season! And there will be more to come later this year:

-Creatures of Darkness, inspired by all of the classic, spooky Halloween monsters
-The Age of Anti-Heroes, a muscular and dramatic show full of anthems and more, inspired by the concept of the anti-hero
