OF DAY AND NIGHT (2019)

In 2019, composers Kevin Day, Quinn Mason, and I collaborated together on a new project for wind ensemble. The resulting triptych, Of Day and Night, explores the progression of time over the course of a single day. Each of the three pieces - Kevin's Shimmering Sunshine (Grade 4), Quinn's Across a Golden Sky (Grade 3), and my own work Midnight Skyline (Grade 5) - focuses on a specific point of the day, all the while celebrating our species and the natural phenomena of our planet. Of Day and Night was generously supported by a consortium of wind ensembles and conductors across the United States. Today, that consortium exclusivity window has officially ended* and the triptych is now available to the public.

Kevin, Quinn, and I are excited to announce that all three pieces in the triptych Of Day and Night are now published and distributed through Murphy Music Press, LLC. While Kevin, Quinn, and I strongly encourage that all three pieces be programmed in order to realize the triptych's full intent, each piece does stand on their own as well and may be performed individually. Additionally, the triptych is available to purchase through Murphy Music Press as a full bundle, or each piece may be purchased individually.

*Consortium members who were unable to give their premieres of any part, or all of, this triptych due to the COVID-19 pandemic will still have the rights to call their performances of any, or all, of these three works their consortium premiere.

I am so, so grateful to the following:

-To all of the consortium members, artists, friends, and colleagues who have supported and advocated for this triptych, for Kevin and Quinn's outstanding music, and for my own work
-To Sean Murphy for publishing this triptych in his catalog, as well as for his continued championing and advocacy of new music and incredible composers
-To all of you who have continued to support and advocate for me and my own work throughout the years, especially through these recently, incredibly difficult and challenging times

Secondly, it is a great privilege and honor to have my own work be a part of MMP's incredible catalog!
I'm very excited to be joining this family of fantastic composers.

Finally, I am beyond grateful to both Kevin and Quinn for their wonderful friendship, for their brilliant creativity and art, for the beautiful pieces they have created for this triptych, and for the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with them on this project.

Some new projects are on the horizon, and the revision process for my symphony is going well! More to come soon about all of this.
For now, here's to a new year, new music, and better days to come.
