Anthem for All is a grand and cinematic work that begins from a relatively dark state of uncertainty and, over time, develops into a heroic and powerful statement of purpose. I wanted to write a piece of music that would be both heroic and empowering for everyone who performs it and/or listens to it, no matter who they are, where they come from, what they identify as, or what their background is. Thus, this anthem intends to convey the idea that greatness can come from anywhere and that anyone can be a hero.
It is my hope that Anthem for All will inspire its performers and audiences to stand together, rise up, and continue to accomplish great things as they continue to learn and grow. Thank you so much to Ken Nakamoto and the William C. Overfelt High School Symphonic Band for commissioning the original concert band version of this piece!
