SCORE FOLLOWER
In the late 2010's, I was inspired by various landscapes, landmarks, and scenic locales in my home state of Michigan to write what ultimately became my first triptych for concert band. Having now lived in the state of Connecticut for quite some time, I became interested in taking a similar approach, creating new music about several different aspects of the state that I am now more familiar with than I was when I first moved here.
Air for Avery Point is a lyrical and ambient pastorale inspired by the idyllic scenery of Avery Point and its historical landmarks, including Branford House and the lighthouse which overlooks the campus. Embedded within the harmonic and lyrical tapestries of this piece is the occasional sounds of chimes one might hear when the wind blows through them on a perfectly calm day, as well as the sounds of the water that one might hear while visiting Avery Point and gazing upon all of the beauty that it has to offer.
